Shannon Shepherd, a Certified Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner, has devoted more than 25 years to women’s healthcare. Starting her career as an OB nurse in 2000 and becoming a midwife in 2005, Shannon has provided compassionate, patient-centered care to thousands of women, delivering approximately 2,500 babies.
Her journey into midwifery was inspired by her own childbirth experiences, where she felt her concerns were not fully heard. This motivated her to prioritize listening to her patients and ensuring they feel supported and understood. Known for her approachable nature and empathetic care, Shannon excels in connecting with women, providing personalized treatment, and guiding them to appropriate resources when needed.
At Sidney Health Center, Shannon plays a vital role in delivering a broad spectrum of gynecological and obstetric care. Her services include routine exams, family planning and counseling, basic infertility management, menopause care, and breast health. Having previously worked at CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston, ND, from 2016 to 2020, Shannon brings a great understanding of the MonDak region to her role.
Outside of work, Shannon loves traveling, exploring national parks, and spending time with her family, including her cherished 118-pound Rottweiler. Her adventurous spirit has led her to visit 45 U.S. states, seven European countries, and numerous destinations across Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Canada. Her deep appreciation for nature fuels her ongoing goal to explore as many U.S. National Parks as possible.
In addition, Shannon has a heart for serving the community. She has been involved with the International Rotary Club, the Women’s League of Hartsville, SC, and the Palm Beach Pioneer Association. In Williston, she volunteered at the Williams County Health Department and served as a Girl Scout leader for 13 years. She looks forward to continuing her involvement with local service organizations as opportunities arise.
Shannon’s experience, dedication to her patients, and commitment to women’s health make her an integral part of the care team at Sidney Health Center.
